Thank you for visiting the website.  I started taking photographs when I was 9 years old, someone gave me a Polaroid camera, and  I still have those pictures of the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center.  In the last few years, I have been traveling in the South West, and exploring the landscape, back roads, and quiet places.  The quiet places seem to be more accessible these days, and the wisdom that is inherent in them is more visible.  I notice the symbiotic relationships between the land and the animals, intricate, intrinsic cycles.  But somehow we (humans) forget about them.   Maybe not really - we still flock to the national parks and wild places, but there is so much noise and agendas, obscuring the connection, and our relationship with nature is fleeting at best.  I hope that at least on some level these photographs remind the viewer that this moment will never happen again, even though there is a picture of it, it is long gone.  The light is gone, the animals are somewhere else doing something else, thinking about something else.  But I try to capture the essence of the moment where the design, the light, the landscape, the animals,  - all interact in harmony - or at least in conjunction, like a melody.  Some of the photos are taken in the moment, others are a chance waited upon until it's just right.  Few of the photos are not perfect, there is movement in the camera, no tripod, long exposure, camera moving to capture the eagle, moving with them along the horizon, but somehow the poetry is present.

Each photo is taken with care and mindfulness.  Each photo is taken with consideration for the history of photography, for the history of the land, and for political and environmental knowledge of the region.  Hopefully, the photos taken as a whole have a story to tell of their own.

The black dog in the pictures is Henry, he that passed away recently.  He was a  Wirehaired Pointer, lived 15 years, and traveled to 41 states.
